Bespoke Desktop Solutions

These case studies highlight just a sample of the bespoke systems that we have written and installed for our clients.

Whether you need a similar system - or a solution tailored to your own unique needs - we are sure we can help. Whatever your requirements, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

Speeding Up Orders For A Telecommunications Provider

Clearwater worked with a leading telecommunications company to automate its order processing and management system. The sophisticated phone number records software we installed allows the full provisioning of orders relating to telephone numbers. Orders can be created manually on the system or imported from an Excel template. Our system automatically creates an export file of all the new customer phone numbers for which they have gained orders over the day. This file is used on a telecoms switching platform to fulfil customers orders. More recently, the customer has requested a web-based version of this system to be implemented. This is basically to eliminate the need to install and configure a desktop application for new customers. It also allows existing customers to access the system from any computer with an internet connection and a web browser. Today the company would be the first to admit they would be lost without it.

The Right Prescription For A Medical Equipment Firm

Our client, a medical equipment supplier, needed to give prospective purchasers a quicker and more efficient way of locating the disability equipment they needed than the existing printed catalogue. Clearwater designed an electronic catalogue system that could be easily distributed on CD. The CD acts as a searchable product database that allows purchasers to quickly narrow down the products on offer and find the exact information they need. A wheelchair, for instance, can be located by dimensions, seat cover, tyre types or a range of other criteria. Clearwater also enabled the client to update the electronic catalogue themselves and send out a new CD containing the revised data and our latest version of the system every six months. This enabled more frequent updating and saved expensive reprinting and distribution costs. We took great care to ensure the system was compatible with multiple versions of Windows and completely foolproof in use.

Helping Claims Assessors Respond Faster

As independent insurance assessors, our client needed to speed up its inspectors response times to the large insurers using its services. The existing system was DOS-based and rapidly reaching the limit of its capabilities. Clearwater created a customised software solution that smoothly integrated the existing data with a new, streamlined system. Claim details are entered directly into the system and allocated by postcode to a specific inspector. An arranger then collects the details from the system, contacts the policyholder and makes the appointment. The system then faxes the inspector their appointments list for the next day. The completed inspector’s report is entered into the system which, from this point on, can automatically generate a whole range of further benefits, including letters, standard documents for the various parties, spending mandates and invoices. It can also provide customised management reports on performance targets such as response times and other criteria. Response times were subsequently further speeded up when the client asked us to add a facility for inspectors to use hand-held PCs (PDA). Inspectors can enter the assessment outcome directly into the PDA system and transmit it back in a format that is instantly incorporated into the office system. Instead of taking as long as a week under the old system, the whole process can be completed and logged on their office based system within minutes.

Making Life Simple For A Mail Order Company

Our client, a company selling books direct to the customer, was facing problems with their existing manual system. As the business had grown, the old system was proving slow and error-prone, resulting in unclear stock levels and inconsistent information. The software Clearwater designed now allows the client to keep track of sales orders with speed and accuracy. The details entered into the system can be automatically used to create invoices, monitor stock levels, provide order history and payment details for individual customers as well as instant management and sales reports. The software also updates the book company’s online catalogue and ensures all stock details are completely consistent with its own database. The original system we installed has met all the client’s needs and proved highly cost-effective with no need to invest in further updates.

Large Facilities Outsourcing and Training Company

We designed and installed a system to manage all the client’s training events and training records. It produces statistical information on attendees and cancellations, while course appraisal forms are scanned into our system. The system analyses the data and produces various reports and graphs as well as printing photo ID cards for delegates who have passed certification courses.

Our personnel sickness records system allows the client’s staff to view details imported from the mainframe system. Detailed sickness information is entered into the system and various reports and charts are produced to provide vital management statistics.

We designed and installed an asset replacement database which allows projects to be initially entered into the system at a high level. As the project develops, this can then be expanded into lower-level activities. Financial forecasts and actuals are entered and reports produced detailing actual and future spend by projects/activities.
