A bespoke solution is a custom written computer system designed specifically for your company. Q. What is a source-code escrow agreement? A. A source-code escrow agreement allows the licensee to obtain access to the software‘s source code under certain circumstances, such as if the licensor goes out of business. Q. Who owns the source code for any systems you write? A. Source code ownership for our FirstClass and Cross packages remains with Clearwater. Source code for the majority of our bespoke solutions tends to be fully owned by our customers once the system has been fully paid for. This allows the customer the flexibility of maintaining the system themselves if they have the resources available to do so. Q. What programming languages do you write your systems in? A. Currently, we mainly use VB6 and VB.NET for Windows-based systems, VB.NET for PDA systems and ASP.NET for web-based systems. Q. What databases do you use for your systems? A. Access is still in use for some older systems but SQL Server 7.0/2000 databases are used for most systems. Though we do not develop Oracle databases, we have experience of linking into clients’ existing Oracle databases. Q. I am interested in having a bespoke data base written for our business, but our existing data is held in spread sheets - will I lose it all? A. No we can write routines to specifically extract the data from these spreadsheets and create entries in your new database for you. Q. Can you produce help files? A. Yes. We can produce context sensitive html help files (compiled as a .chm file) containing any information you wish. Q. What industries does your bespoke work concentrate on? A. We have developed solutions for a vast range of industries and are confident we can help you regardless of your area of business. Q. Can you integrate a system with Microsoft Office products? A. Yes. Many of our systems integrate with Word, Excel, Outlook and even Visio. Q. What are the pre-requisites to integrating a system with Microsoft Office products? A. The only pre-requisite is that for each Microsoft Office product you wish to integrate our system with, the Microsoft Office product must already be installed on the target computer(s). Licensing for any Microsoft Office products will be the responsibility of the client. |
