Questions and Answers
The following Q&A’s answer some of the most common
questions we get asked when dealing with prospective new clients. If you have
any other queries relating to the services we offer, please give us a call and
we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
PDAs
Q. Do you supply PDAs?
A. No, we only supply the software to run on the PDAs. However, we are always
happy to help customers with these purchases and offer advice if and when
required.
Q. What systems have you developed for use on PDAs?
A. We have developed a number of different PDA systems. See the PDA
Development Case Studies for more details.
Q. What PDAs will be compatible with the software you develop?
A. As long as the PDA runs the Microsoft PocketPC operating system then our
systems will run on them. Historically, we have produced systems that work on
the Compaq Ipaq, HP Journada, XDA, XDA II and SPV.
Q. Would any sensitive data held on a PDA be secure?
A. All sensitive data on a PDA can be encrypted to make it secure. It can then
be password protected to make it impossible to be seen by an unauthorised user.
The PDA can also be password protected (like a mobile phone) to prevent
unauthorised use.
Q. Is it possible to have any data collected on a PDA update a live database in
an office instantly?
A. Yes. We have designed PDA systems which use GPRS to gain an "always on"
internet connection. Web services can then be called, passing any collected
data to prevent data being stored on the PDA altogether, as well as allowing
head offices to be able to see the data instantly.
